Town Halls for a Green New Deal came to Station SL on Earth Day, April 22nd, to introduce and educate our community about the Green New Deal.
The event, hosted by Patty and Emily Breslin, was to discuss the pathway to make the Green New Deal become a reality. As part of a grassroots movement, they brought stories of people who stand to benefit from the Green New Deal and help everyone understand that the GND isn't about taking away cows or cars, but about building things up and investing in the American people.
According to Ms. Breslin,
"The Green New Deal, if properly implemented in San Leandro, would help our city become more equitable, inclusive and climate-smart oriented to transition into a green economy. Decades of restructuring of our social and infrastructural foundation would be required to effectively move forward on making our city be a truly green city. Though it may take time, actions and movements are already in place. Citizens from all across the Bay Area came out to be a part of the movement, to not only hear about the future but to take action in shaping it."
